About Us
Greenstone Amplifiers was formed to build high quality all-tube guitar amplifiers and associated products which represent the best of New Zealand design, craftsmanship and technology.
We summarise our philosophy in the following way. We would rather build a business based on amplifers that we are proud to put our name on and that stand the test of time rather than making a quick buck on a cheap and nasty product.
Our approach is to design, develop and manufacture in New Zealand. Where we require components not made in New Zealand, we buy these from local suppliers. This means our business generates work, expertise and income locally. We have found that whilst this approach does not make us as cheap as mass produced products from China for example, it generates rapid and relevant innovation designed to meet the needs of the New Zealand guitar player.
We intend to maintain this philosophy and develop more powerful networks within New Zealand to grow our business locally and globally.
Our People
Kelvin Kewish (pictured on the right) is responsible for building the Greenstone Amplifers, how they look, sound and perform. Kelvin is a qualified Technician who has worked as a Telecommunications Engineer for over 20 years. His practical experience in critical systems worth many millions of dollars is the force which drives the quality and reliability of every Greenstone Amplifier. Kelvin's special talent is that he only has to look at an amplifier EQ and his sound comes out! Kelvin plays in gigging bands which give him a real insight into the performance of our amplifiers. He is based in Te Pahu, near Hamilton in the central North Island region.
Rob Crawford (pictured on the left) is responsible for the sales and marketing of Greenstone Amplifiers.
